| Khanh Hoa tourism industry welcomed the very first tourists on this Lunar New Year |
In Khanh Hoa Province, on the first day of Lunar New Year (1st Feb 2022), Department of Tourism in cooperation with Cam Ranh International Airport and Vietnam Airlines held the ceremony to welcome the very first tourists to Nha Trang City - Khanh Hoa Province in the Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022. The passengers on flight VN1551 of Vietnam Airlines took off from Noi Bai International Airport (Ha Noi) and landed at Cam Ranh International Airport (Khanh Hoa). Passengers travelling on the flight VN1551 received flowers and red envelopes from leaders of the province and delegates. Besides, 3 first tourists to first food Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa also received special gifts from Vietnam Airlines. This is the first event to lift the curtain for the series of activities in 2022 of Khanh Hoa tourism industry, and at the same time strengthen media communication and promotion, affirming Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa is always a safe, quality and attractive tourist destination. This is also an event to create momentum to enter a new year of Khanh Hoa tourism in general and local tourism businesses in particular that will overcome difficulties, stabilise operations and achieve success.
On the same day, in Da Nang, Da Nang Department of Tourism in cooperation with Da Nang International Airport, Vietjet Air and Rong Tien Sa Media Joint Stock Company also held a ceremony to welcome the first caller tourists to Da Nang in the Lunar New Year of the Tiger. The ‘first caller’ flight VJ624 with 230 passengers from Ho Chi Minh City landed at Da Nang City at 10:20am on 1st February 2022, including 26 international arrivals. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism said: “The New Year celebration has become a tradition of Da Nang tourism, indicating the hospitality of the destination and thereby sending out the New Year best wishes. We hope that after 2 years full of challenges, Da Nang tourism will have a blessed new year.”
On the first day of the New Year, leaders of Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism came to send out New Year wishes and lucky money to tourists in Binh Thuan Province, which brought surprise to both Vietnamese and international tourists.
In Quang Ninh Province, on the first day of Tet holiday, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy welcomed the first caller tourists to visit Quang Ninh Province. The flight number VJ23 operated by Vietjet Air, carrying 126 passengers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) landed safely at Van Don International Airport (Quang Ninh). The welcoming process followed strictly to 5K rules, passengers wear masks, medical declarations and receive body temperatures scanned by automatic metres. In 2022, Quang Ninh Province will continue to apply free entry for Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu scenic spot; additional discount on service fees at some amusement and sightseeing spots, resorts, etc. for passengers flying to or from Van Don International Airport.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, tourists flock to the famous tourist destination Da Lat (Lam Dong Province) to visit and relax. Some tourists disclosed that Da Lat on this special occasion not only has marvellous scenery, good service quality, but also has the assurance in the COVID-19 pandemic prevention, provides a safe and peace of mind during the New Year celebration. According to Mrs. Tran Thi Vu Loan, Vice Chairwoman of Da Lat People’s Committee, by far, about 90% of hotel rooms have been fully booked in Da Lat. In order to assure the safety while providing excellent services for tourists, besides the factors of service improvement, security and traffic safety, the pandemic prevention for tourists is also the alert attention of local authorities. It is estimated that in the holiday of Lunar New Year of the Tiger 2022, Da Lat City will welcome over 100,000 visitor arrivals, including more than 70,000 overnight visitors, up over 70% of visitors over the same period last year.

As recorded on the second day of the Lunar New Year, thousands of tourists from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai Province, Binh Duong Province … have flock to tourist spots of Vung Tau City to enjoy the spring, entertain and go to the beach. In the Bai Sau Beach area of Vung Tau City, from the early morning, thousands of tourists went to the beach and had fun. The route to tourist attractions on Lon (Big) Mountain and Nho (Small) Mountain was full of transportations in the morning and it is expected that in the upcoming days, tourist numbers will continue to rise.
Phu Quoc Island is predicted to be a ‘hot’ destination of the country on this Lunar New Year occasion. According to leaders of Phu Quoc International Airport, from 31st January to 6th February (which is from 29th day of 12th month to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger), the airport has welcomed 368 flights in total. After that, from 7th to 13th February, the airport will maintain welcoming 40 flights everyday. Especially on the second and thirds day of the Lunar New Year, the airport welcomed over 60 flights everyday, including more than 40 additional flights. It is a promising signal that the island city will welcome a huge number of tourists on this occasion.
Based on the statistics of Google Destination Insights the demand of searching on domestic travel information is on the verge of increasing. Particularly, there is a crystal clear improvement in the demand for aviation information searching, from the beginning of January 2022, the searching increased sharply compared to 2 previous months and 30% higher than the same period of last year.
Earlier, on 16th December 2021, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has launched the domestic tourism promotion campaign under the theme “Safe tourism - Full experience”, in order to contribute to the gradual recovery of the tourism industry in the spirit of safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic, meeting the people’s demand for sightseeing, tourism and relaxation.
Hopefully, with these attractive and exciting activities of the tourist destinations in the country, Vietnam tourism industry will strongly recover in 2022.
