Vietjet expands international air routes

Vietjet Air
Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air has expanded its international commercial flight network by restoring an air route connecting Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) with Bangkok (Thailand), starting from January 21.

The move has seen the airline operate two round-trip flights per week on Fridays and Saturdays between Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Thailand's largest airport Suvarnabhumi.

Nguyen Thanh Son, vice president of Vietjet, emphasised that the resumption of international flights between the two cities is set to contribute to rebooting economic recovery efforts and meeting people’s travel demand ahead of the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet, and the upcoming summer peak season.

Vietjet is exploiting a wide flight network connecting Bangkok with Thailand’s tourism and economic hubs, including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, Khon Kae, and Ubon Ratchathani, along with other inter-regional routes.

The budget air carrier re-operated international commercial flights as of January 1 from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo (Japan), Taipei (China), Seoul (RoK), and Singapore, with these flights running with a frequency of one round trip per week for each air route.

The carrier is expected to reopen all international routes during the next stage and is set to run additional routes to both India and Russia in the near future.

To mark the resumption, the airline has launched fresh aviation products at reasonable costs and at the same time pledged to provide passengers with flight safety experience on its new-generation aircraft fleet, the Vietjet representative explained.

Passengers are required to abide with COVID-19 guidelines, including having a vaccine passport and a negative RT- PCR test, and quarantining at lodging facilities.
