Black winter truffle season has arrived at Michelin-starred Elements restaurant where Chef de Cuisine Hans Zahner and his team will be serving up wonderful dishes featuring the treasure known as the Black Diamond of Perigord for the region in France where the richly flavoured delicacy is found.
Widely considered to be among the best in the world, the highly-prized black truffles are harvested in the fecund earth of mountainous woods in Perigord. These truffles have a dark outer skin and a marbled chocolate interior when ripe, giving them an intoxicating nutty or woody aroma that adds great depth of flavour to any dish. Lovers of the fungi can expect a truffle feast prepared with French culinary techniques and Japanese twists. Highlights on the menu at Elements including Challans duck served with salsify (oyster root and kabocha, and famously succulent grilled Satsuma wagyu beef from Kagoshima Prefecture. Servers will also be on hand to present truffles and offer shavings of the precious delicacy to diners at tableside.
Black Winter Truffle dishes are offered at market price. Available at Elements restaurant every Tuesday – Saturday from 19 January – 31 March 2021, 18:00 - 22:30.
