TAT and Sharp Corporation sign MOU to co-promote ‘Amazing Thailand Amazing 8K’
Those present for the MOU signing included a TAT delegation led by Governor, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, and Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, together with Sharp Corporation Head of the President’s Office, Mr. Yoshihiro Hashimoto, and Sharp Thai Managing Director, Mr. Robert Wu.
TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak said the new initiative, co-branded ‘Amazing Thailand Amazing 8K’, is based around Sharp’s latest Aquos 8K full HD televisions that are being imported into Thailand for the first time this year.
“‘Amazing Thailand Amazing 8K’ is an important step in the cooperation between the government and Thai private sector to elevate the country’s tourism image in line with the Royal Thai Government’s ‘Thailand 4.0’ initiative.
“It represents yet another important tool to present the beauty of Thailand to new generations of potential travellers, whilst highlighting various aspects of TAT’s new marketing concept ‘Open to the New Shades’.”(In photo, front left) Mr. Robert Wu, Managing Director, Sharp Thai; Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor; Mr. Yoshihiro Hashimoto, Executive Managing Officer and Head of President Office, Sharp Corporation; and Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications
Sharp brought in a team of overseas specialists to Thailand who are specifically trained in 8k recording and production. Their job, together with colleagues from TAT, is to operate the 8K capture equipment required to film attractions, activities and festivals. Filming starts during this year’s Songkran Festival at major attractions around Bangkok including but not limited to Wat Pho, Wat Arun, the Golden Mount, Loha Prasat, Rotfai Night Market Ratchada and more.
Capture methods will incorporate elevated footage from Bangkok skyscrapers and drones using time-lapse and motion time-lapse techniques to chronical the Songkran events. Coverage from other provinces including the Ayutthaya Historical Park and Luang Pho Yai at Wat Muang, Ang Thong will also be incorporated during the 8k post-production editing process that also uses custom equipment.
Sharp’s Aquos 8K series will present Thailand’s tourism image in the best possible light. The company’s latest Aquos 8K full HD televisions offer an incredible viewing experience with a resolution up to 7680×4320 pixels. Thailand’s natural attractions, iconic temple architecture and the colourful palate of Thai gastronomy will burst forth in living colour using this technology.
The signing makes TAT the first ASEAN-based tourism organisation to sign an MOU with Sharp to harness the power of the company’s world class brand and its proprietary 8k technology. The broadcast footprint is expected to cover ASEAN and other Asian countries through TAT’s various marketing and media endeavours combined with the power of Sharp’s large network of loyal customers.
