The New
Zealand movie premiere of Ice Age 4: Continental
Drift will be hosted in Queenstown as part of the American Express Queenstown
Winter Festival.
The Reading Cinema complex and iconic Queenstown Mall will
transform into a magical Ice Age-themed winter wonderland for the Air New
Zealand-sponsored premiere, wrapping up the Winter Festival Family Fun Day on
Saturday 23 June.
Every seat in the three-theatre complex will be up for grabs
as 279 movie premiere tickets are given away through national and regional
competitions and promotions.
‘Ice Age 4: Continental Drift’ is Reading Cinemas
Queenstown’s first New Zealand movie premiere and Reading Cinemas Complex
Manager Rebekah Moore said securing it for the town and festival was a huge
coup.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that we’ve been chosen to host
this fantastic event and would like to thank everyone who helped make it
happen. It’s going to be a very special night and we’re looking forward
to bringing a little bit of Hollywood
to town and creating a ‘cool’ atmosphere. Ticket winners will enjoy a
true red carpet movie premiere experience complete with movie characters on the
specially themed AOC blue carpet and there will be plenty of entertainment for
all to enjoy in The Mall prior to the screening.
“It’s a perfect family event for Winter Festival and we’re
planning a range of promotions and prizes in conjunction with Destination
Queenstown, More FM and Air New Zealand as well as other local and national
companies.”
Queenstown Winter Festival Director Simon Green said the
premiere would be a wonderful finale for the first Saturday of the festival
which was all about celebrating families and community.
“The first Saturday is traditionally a family day out with
the Auckland Airport Family Fun Day and American Express Festival Parade. The
Air New Zealand Premiere will kick off Saturday 23rd June in the early evening.
“As the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest winter party, Winter
Festival is a perfect staging post for launching Ice Age 4 in New Zealand –
the synergy is superb, especially as the festival leads straight into the
school holidays. There will be lots of very excited children trying to
get hands on those tickets.”
Destination Queenstown CEO Tony Everitt expects the New Zealand
premiere to be extremely well received.
“The Ice Age movies have attracted millions of fans around
the world so we’re delighted that Queenstown has been chosen to host the New Zealand
premiere. The theme is a perfect fit for our Winter Festival which brings
families, friends and visitors together to celebrate the start of winter in
true Queenstown style.”
