Culinary Excellence with a Conscience: MCEC Unveils New 2025 Menu

New 2025 Menu
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has launched its 2025 menu, setting a new standard in event catering with a strong focus on sustainability, local produce, and bold flavors. Guests can expect a culinary journey that reflects Melbourne’s vibrant food scene while championing eco-friendly practices.

A Taste of Melbourne’s Best

MCEC’s 2025 menu celebrates Melbourne’s rich culinary diversity and is crafted with 80% locally sourced ingredients from Melbourne and Victoria’s finest growers. Executive Chef Peter Haycroft explains:

“Our award-winning kitchen is renowned for pushing the boundaries of traditional conference catering. This menu showcases our creativity, passion, and commitment to sustainability.”

Complementing the food offerings are beverage packages featuring locally sourced wines, craft beers, and a standout partnership with Geelong’s Curious Cabinet for non-alcoholic options. Four Pillars Gin continues to bring its renowned flavors to the table, ensuring every event is elevated with Melbourne’s best.

Sustainability at the Heart of Every Dish

MCEC’s new With Purpose packages go beyond exceptional dining—they’re designed to make a positive environmental impact. Highlights include:

  • Sustainable sourcing: Featuring ethical producers and low-impact food packaging.
  • Waste reduction: Surplus food is donated to community partner OzHarvest, rescuing over 3,000 kg of food last year—equating to 6,746 meals for those in need.
  • Affordable options: With Purpose packages are offered at reduced prices, enabling event organisers to minimise costs while supporting sustainability.

Karl Edmonds, Executive Sous Chef of Culinary Development, said:

“With Purpose packages allow organisers to create memorable events that align with their environmental values without compromising quality or taste.”

Inclusive and Inspired Menus

From gala dinners to casual bites, MCEC has created a menu for everyone. Dietary needs are thoughtfully catered for with the Something for Everyone range, which is entirely vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free, ensuring no guest is left out.

A standout addition is the Flavours of Country gala dinner menu, a three-course celebration of Australia’s unique produce and native ingredients such as Davidson plum, saltbush, bush tomato, and lemon myrtle. Signature dishes include sustainably caught fish, locally farmed chicken, and tender beef.

Innovative Culinary Features

  • Onsite micro herbs: Freshly grown herbs enhance every dish.
  • Sustainable seafood: Featuring Hiramasa Kingfish, Etty Bay Barramundi, and Bass Strait Scallops.
  • Vegetarian excellence: Bold, plant-based flavors offer inclusivity without compromise.
