With over 25 years of sportfishing expertise in the tropics, Rory Brookes founded Tropical Sportfisher in 2018. His passion led to the creation of specialised guided lure and fly-fishing experiences in the Far North Queensland area including Cairns, Cape York, Mission Beach and the Great Barrier Reef. With his private day charters designed for a maximum of 2 anglers, he can ensure an intimate and personalised guided sport fishing adventure.

Topical Sportfisher also offers 3-day/4-night mothership fishing adventures accommodating up to 6 anglers. They also incorporate heli fishing and multi-day fishing/camping experiences, able to access very remote areas to catch the bucket list species such as barramundi and permit. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, Tropical Sportfisher is the only fishing guide service offering tropical freshwater fishing for jungle perch.

Barra or Blue Fishing Charters

Located just an hour from Darwin at Dundee Beach, you can chase the much sought-after barramundi in the scenic river and estuary systems that are teeming with wildlife. These systems also hold good numbers of big mud crabs, threadfin salmon and black jewfish. The bluewater is home to some of the best-eating reef fish in the ocean including coral trout, red emperor, bluebone and golden snapper. And the best bit? They are happy to cook your catch right there and then. There is also the option to take fillets home in prepared cold travel bags.

A selection of the prized sportfish that Barra or Blue offers include big trevally, tuna, queenfish, cobia and Spanish mackerel. Sailfish and marlin are also an option at the right time of year.
