A particularly popular spot is Takachiho Gorge, where you can hike through the vast greenery or row a boat straight through the valley.

Near the gorge is a shop called "Chiho no Ie", and they offer one of Japan's favourite summer dishes, "Nagashi Soumen"! 

Customers have to catch their meal, as noodles flow down bamboo shoots filled with running water. 

At Chiho no Ie, they use fresh water from the nearby Tamadare Falls, which boosts the refreshing taste of Nagashi Soumen in the summer heat!
