QUEEN VIC MARKET’S NEW FOOD HALL TO SHOWCASE THE BEST OF MELBOURNE’S FOOD CULTURE

Queen Victoria Market, one of Melbourne's most beloved and visited destinations, has today announced the line-up of new and returning food and beverage operators to open in the Market’s revitalised Food Hall.

‘Queen’s Food Hall’ will open next month, replacing the former Food Court on the corner of Victoria and Queen Streets.

The space is being redeveloped as part of the City of Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market Precinct Renewal program to provide visitors with an exciting new social destination within the Market, featuring increased seating, places to dwell and a diverse array of restaurants, cafés and eateries open day and night.

As one of Melbourne's premier foodie destinations, attracting millions of visitors every year, Queen Victoria Market’s new hospitality offer will showcase the best of the city's food culture.

Queen’s Food Hall will complement and enhance the Market's established offering of fresh produce, specialty goods, and delicious food and coffee; creating an experiential destination and vibrant hub where visitors can enjoy delicious food and drinks and soak up the authentic atmosphere of Melbourne’s favourite marketplace.

The Queen’s Food Hall operators are:
  • Bellboy Coffee Bar: From the team behind the Brunswick East locale comes a chic, boutique city offering with a selection of coffee, beer, wine and cocktails as well as light bites such as crumpets and other sweet treats.
  • The Happy Mexican: The Abbotsford-based bar and kitchen will bring their authentic and tasty Mexican cuisine to Queen Victoria Market, serving classic tacos, burritos, nachos and quesadillas made using fresh, seasonal produce sourced directly from the Market.
  • Saltwater: A sushi and oyster bar that will connect the quality of seafood on offer in the Market’s famed Fish Hall with a fresh, theatrical menu and some Japanese flair – think a live oyster shucking station; flame torched lobster rolls and Aburi scallops; and live sushi hand rolling and sashimi cutting. All complemented by a curated list of local wines.
  • El Rincon: The popular Spanish tapas bar will return to dish up share plates of Spanish cured meats, garlic and chilli prawns, Galician-style octopus, Spanish meatballs and everybody’s favourite – Paella!
  • Le Consulat: A Parisian-inspired patisserie and café – think mini savoury croissants; croquettes and omelettes; cheese and charcuterie platters; filled sandwiches and bread rolls; plus, a selection of sucrés including cakes, eclairs, flans, tarte Tatin and crêpes.
  • Rubens Grill: A relaxed American themed café serving smoky grilled ribs, brisket burgers and porchetta.
  • Drums: The fan-favourite Sri Lankan café will return to the Market with a fresh new look and menu featuring traditional curries, hoppers, lamprais and chips with curry sauce.
  • Canton Malay: The beloved eatery known for its mouth-watering curry laksa and lightning-wok speed hokkien noodles will be back with old favourites like char kway teow as well as traditional delicacies like fish head noodle soup.
