Australia's Most Sustainable Luxury Eco Island Resort Launches

Elysian Retreat
The Sojourn Retreats group have spent the last year renovating the former Paradise Bay Eco Resort on the southern tip of Long Island in the Whitsundays, after purchasing it in March this year.

The former award winning Great Barrier Reef resort had been damaged by Cyclone Marcia and then Debbie rendering it non operational over the last 3 years. The family owned group acknowledged with Australia's highest ecotourism certificate for their commitment to environmental sustainability plan to operate Elysian in line with their Pumpkin Island Retreat, located in the Keppel Islands. Pumpkin was recently recognised as Australia's Most Sustainable Hotel at the World Boutique Hotel Awards in London, adding to it's accomplishments that include Climate Action Leader and the first beyond carbon neutral island in Australia.

Elysian will take a more luxurious approach as an all-inclusive retreat catering to its maximum 20 guests with a private chef, custom organic spa treatments and exclusive aquatic adventures showcasing the worlds most exquisite reef. Impressively the island will operate off the grid, powered by the sun and minimise it's environmental footprint by reducing waste, saving and improving usage of water, power, fuel and emissions. Furthermore only using organic, and earth friendly products/amenities and locally sourcing fresh produce.
