Silk Road Themed Subway Train Launches in Xi’an

China’s historic Silk Road route continues to be a focus this year and a subway train in Xi’an is a moving display of just that. 

The train’s six cars are painted both inside and outside with depictions and information on the Silk Road as part of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. 

 The train’s exterior depicts the desert and camels, the major mode of transportation along the historic trade route, while the cars’ interiors feature hand-drawn pictures and messages. 

Passengers on the Xi’an subway were delighted to see the new décor and to learn more about the route, as well as to take in the costumed performers who regaled travelers.
