Hell's Bell's They're Coming! - 150 Ringers Descend on Perth

150 bell ringres are about to converge on Perth. Are they coming to visit the iconic Bell Tower? Of course they are and they will also be attending the 53rd annual ANZAB Ringing Festival.

ANZAB: The first meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Bell Ringers was held on 2 June 1962 in Parramatta, NSW. The association's objectives include fostering relationships between ringers, promoting and providing educaiotn and training in the ancient art of change ringing.

This year ringers are travelling to Perth from all states across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Ireland. For the guests it wil be four days of ringing 'bliss' with a non-stop program that takes the ringers to nine rings of bells in the state. From the award-winning Bell Tower with bells that date back to 1725 and the Chapel of St Hilda of Whitby in Mosman Park with its bells that were cast in 1859, the ringers will visit Rockingham, Mandurah, Claremont, Bunbury and York.

It's not just about the association as there are some interesting activities that the general public can participate in including; ringing on the Cygnet Ring, a mobile belfry, and hearing some of the best bell ringers in the world competing in their ancient art. It's a chance to hear the highest calibre of ringing in the region, if not the world. People may even meet a Ringer who has rung at 6305 churches and bell-towers world-wide. There are only four other ringers in the world who have rung more.
