Speaking in Beijing Monday when he met with the head of a Malaysian transportation agency, he said, “China is experienced in infrastructure construction, especially the high-speed railway construction, which, through large-scale construction and operation, is advanced, safe, reliable, inclusive and of a competitive price.”
Li told Syed Hamid bin Syed Jaafar Albar, chairman of the Malaysian Land Public Transportation Commission, that he hoped the experienced consortium could put forward a competitive bid for the project.
The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail project is expected to reduce the travel times between the two cities to within 90 minutes for the journey of about 350 kilometres.
Hamid said Malaysia was “promoting a transformation programME including public transportation” in which he believes China can play an important role.
