This year is a particularly special reason to celebrate, as Eureka Skydeck will be celebrating its 8th birthday on level 88 of Eureka Tower; a numerical coincidence for the impressive structure and one that continues to astound its visitors both young and old.
For this special occasion, all adult, children and concession admission tickets will be available on the Eureka Skydeck website at 10am for $8 until sold out.
As the only observation desk in the world with ‘The Edge’ – a glass cube which projects 3 metres out from the building, suspending people 300 metres above the ground – and magnificent 360 degree, floor-to-ceiling views encompassing Melbourne city, this one-of-a-kind tourist attraction has welcomed the 8th year of operation like it does its visitors.
Since opening its doors to the public in 2007, Eureka Skydeck has welcomed more than 4.8 million visitors to the top, with the Eureka Skydeck lifts having travelled 1.2 million times to get them there; a distance that’s 42,403 kilometres shy of reaching the moon!
Eureka Skydeck has also helped over 370 visitors propose to their loved one, sold over 275,000 cups of coffee, and given over 1.2 million visitors The Edge experience.
In 2014 alone, Eureka Skydeck had over 250,000 visitors, with people from every corner of the globe stopping by to check out the city from above.
What’s more are the many memorable large-scale publicity stunts that have attracted international attention and boosted the growth of visitors to the much loved Melbourne icon.
One of those included a large 4.5 metre King Kong Hand that was suspended 300 metres high outside of Eureka Skydeck, with a stunt expert holding on tightly to King Kong's grasp.

Another was during the Heartkids charity Super Boss Day launch, when Catwoman abseiled down the window to Eureka Skydeck, while Batman landed on top of the famous Edge attraction.Taking just over 4 years to build, and costing approximately A$500 million, the 92-storey, 297-metre high building is one of only 17 buildings in the world with 90 or more storeys. It is also the highest viewing platform in Australia, surpassing that of Sydney Tower and QDeck, and is the tallest building in Melbourne.
Almost a decade later, Eureka Skydeck continues to thrive as one of the city’s must-see attractions.
