Live Performance Australia (LPA) has revealed a star-studded line up of entertainment as part of the 14th Annual Helpmann Awards to be held on the set of Disney’s The Lion King at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, on the evening of Monday 18 August 2014.
The Lion King will kick off the evening of entertainment, which features a sampler’s selection of world renowned musicals, with the full version of the Circle of Life - a world first for any awards show.
Executive Producer of the 2014 Helpmann Awards, Jon Nicholls, said: “I am so pleased to be back in the harness producing the Helpmann Awards this year.”
“I am delighted that we have such a star studded line up. This is one of the biggest and brightest Helpmann Awards we have yet presented,” Mr Nicholls said.
The Awards ceremony will also feature Strictly Ballroom the Musical which had its world premiere at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre this year, as well as a very special medley from The King and I, which is opening at the Sydney Opera House later this year, and finally a performance from Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Les Miserables.
Singer Mark Vincent, The Chooky Dancers from Elcho Island, The Zephyr Quartet and Sydney’s Wharf Review will round out the smorgasbord of entertainment on offer throughout the 14th Annual Helpmann Awards ceremony.
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner congratulated LPA on its stunning Helpmann’s line up and encouraged everyone to take the opportunity to attend this prestigious Australian awards ceremony.
“The NSW Government is a proud supporter of the Helpmann Awards which features performances from some of the outstanding musical productions secured through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW,” Mr Stoner said.
