New Baby Chimpanzee at Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo has a Spring baby boom, with arrival of a baby Chimpanzee, little Fennec Fox kits, two female koala joeys and a Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat joey.

The little male chimpanzee can be seen in mother, Kuma’s care, at Taronga Chimpanzee Sanctuary with the Zoo’s renowned group and keen-eyed visitors can spot the tiny fox kits as they begin to venture out of the nest box in their exhibit.

Keepers have spotted the wombat joey’s foot poking out of its mother’s pouch in Backyard to Bush’s Wombat Burrow and the little koala joeys can be seen in Koala Encounters with their mothers.

Taronga is preparing for the opening of its amazing new Lemur Forest Adventure in mid-December, which will be home to eight striking Ring-tailed Lemurs, whose exhibit includes a forest experience and a playground specially designed to encourage children to ‘Play like Lemurs’.

The Zoo’s Twilight at Taronga Summer Concert Series – featuring entertainers like Jimmy Barnes, Bjorn Again, Richard Clapton, the Whitlams and Katie Noonan – is selling fast ahead of the series opener on February 01, 2014.
