Hong Kong Mid-Autumn Festival

Welcome to an enchanting world of fiery dragons, ancient lanterns and modern light shows: it’s time for the Mid-Autumn Festival! Join the celebrations as Hong Kong pays homage to its Chinese roots, to a bygone era when farmers thanked the moon god for bountiful harvests.

In true Hong Kong festive spirit, age-old tradition and innovation rub shoulders for a fun family experience. Designers bring the moon ‘down to earth’ with a giant eco-light display in the one2free Lantern Wonderland. The fire and fury of an ancient ritual roars its way onto the streets of Tai Hang for three days in the shape of a 67-metre-long dragon. And no Hong Kong festival would be complete without moon-dappled harbour views and an array of delicious foods – both traditional and nouveau.

The Mid-Autumn Festival kicks off on the 14th of September. The city will be brought to life with glowing lanterns, fiery dragons dancing through the bustling streets and festive foods such as delicious moon cakes!

Festivities stretch over the whole week – just enough time to sample all the moon cakes on offer! Date: 14 – 22 September 2013
