$1.5M BOOST TO SYDNEY AND NSW NIGHT-TIME ECONOMY

Sydney precincts and NSW live music events will benefit from investment of $1.5 million from the NSW Government aimed at stimulating the night-time economy, Minister for Racing Paul Toole and Minister for the Arts Don Harwin announced yesterday.

“Sydney is one of the great world cities and has a long tradition of music and entertainment that’s to be celebrated,” Mr Toole said.

“We’ve developed a package with two major elements. Firstly, we’re putting $1.5 million towards boosting night-time events, in particular live music, and secondly we’re cutting red tape and introducing innovative trading arrangements to enable businesses to thrive.”

Our State has a vibrant calendar of night-time events from theatrical performances, workshops and seminars, to live music, food and wine events, exhibitions and other cultural and cinematic experiences to name just a few.

To support artists, musicians, venues, businesses and their local communities, we are inviting you to leverage the NSW Government communication channels including the sydney.com and visitnsw.com websites to participate in developing a night-time economy directory to increase community awareness of night-time related events and activities.

The night-time economy involves social, cultural and business activities that take place from 6pm to 6am and is a key driver of growth, and a significant contributor to the economy more broadly.
