The national tourism financial aid package will include 350 million yuan (approximately $56 million) earmarked for various tourism projects, planning, personnel training, bathroom construction, marketing and more for the region.
Xinjiang, especially its southern stretches, will be developed for visitation; the area offers many cultural heritage sites along the historic Silk Road path.
Li Jinzao, CNTA’s director, noted the great potential in the region, as well as its “great attractiveness to visitors.”
He also emphasized developing “outstanding scenic spots and tourism towns” in Xinjiang and along the Silk Road.
