The SPTO actively participates in meetings and forums that focus on aviation and/or air access with the main objective of sharing information and building networks that will benefit its members.
SPTO has been invited by the Association of South Pacific Airlines (ASPA) to participate in their 62nd General Session held in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea from the 1 to 2 July 2015.
The SPTO is being represented by Tourism Research Officer, Jennifer Butukoro, who will deliver a Regional Tourism Update to the participants that will highlight the developments and challenges that the region faces particularly against the limited regional air access issues and an overview of past travel trends and forecasted arrivals for all SPTO member countries
SPTO Chief Executive Ilisoni Vuidreketi stated the organization is pleased to participate in the ASPA meeting and is looking forward to gathering information about the latest aviation developments in the Pacific region.
“Aviation and connectivity to our Pacific Island States (PICs) is of vital importance to our region especially in bringing tourists to our shores. We believe that ASPA offers SPTO and our members a great opportunity to network and share ideas with our regional aviation partners”, Mr. Vuidreketi continued.
“Airlines offer our tourists their first experience on their holidays to our region and this interconnectivity means we all have a part to play in our developing tourism sector. These kinds of meetings offer us a great opportunity to share ideas as well as to strengthen our relationships as we are all interdependent on each other to promote and market our region”, Mr. Vuidreketi added.
