NSW has won the rights to host a local version of the world-renowned San Francisco startup LAUNCH Festival in 2018 and 2019.
Secured by Business Events Sydney, Destination NSW and the NSW Department of Industry, the event will draw international experts and capital to Australia and boost the NSW innovation brand on the world stage.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said it will be the first time the conference is held outside of the United States.
“To play host to the world’s most famous startup festival here in Sydney is a great opportunity to support innovative industries and jobs in NSW.”
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said, “Sydney is the tech centre of Australia and we are delighted to have secured the LAUNCH Festival for NSW, which will shine a light on our innovation capital and showcase the nation’s leading startups to the world.”
Business Events Sydney Chief Executive Officer Lyn Lewis-Smith said, “Hosting LAUNCH Festival in 2018 and 2019 will boost entrepreneurship and innovation by profiling the ground-breaking ideas of our local talent and increasing skills, knowledge and networks, to help new businesses flourish.”
LAUNCH Festival is the leading startup conference in the world, supporting founders and inspiring innovation for the next generation of companies.
