Take a romantic stroll along a candlelit canal in winter

Held every February, the Otaru Snow Light Path Festival sprinkles the area of Otaru Canal with warm flickers of candlelight. 

The frozen canal is illuminated by candles lit within glass buoys that represent Otaru’s herring fishing heritage, while glowing snow and ice art line the promenade along the canal and the old Temiya railway line. 

The snowy town and the glittering lanterns creates a romantic setting for a winter fairytale.
