CRAY-ZY FOR CRAYFISH THIS CHRISTMAS

Christmas is just around the corner and Australia’s home of seafood, Sydney Fish Market, has released a price forecast so consumers know what they can expect to pay this festive season.

Alex Stollznow, Tour Guide at Sydney Fish Market, said Australian seafood is some of the best in the world and with all the home-grown favourites in ample supply, the 2020 Christmas seafood season is shaping up to be a great one.

“This year is the perfect opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer and show support for Australian seafood producers who have done it tough in 2020.

“Why not dabble in delicacy and pick up a beautiful, high end lobster. The mild, sweet flesh cradled in a bright crimson red shell speaks for itself and is a showstopper as the centrepiece of any table,” Stollznow said.

“We’re seeing Rocklobster, or crayfish as they’re known in some parts of Australia, sell between $80 and $100 per kilogram at the market, which is down from the $120 per kilogram that they ordinarily sell for.”

Seafood lovers can rest assured they will be able to find something for every taste and budget at Sydney Fish Market.

“There is a prawn for every price point with all Australian prawns harvested in a variety of sizes. Mediums, long considered the tastiest size, retail between $26 and $29 per kilo while prawns at the bigger end of town, often Wild Eastern King, retail between $30 and $40.”
Sydney Fish Market has prepared the below pricing and quantity guide to help consumers budget and plan their seafood spread.
