A DECADE OF DOWN RAILS - BURTON SNOWBOARDS ANNOUNCES THE 10TH ANNUAL CATTLEMAN’S RAIL JAM

Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam
For 364 days a year, the Cattleman’s stair set at Mt Buller is merely a passageway that connects the village square to the bottom of Bourke St. But on one Saturday for the past nine years, the stair set has closed to the public, all in the name of snowboarding.

In 2005, a group of young Mt Buller locals were the first hit the Cattleman’s stair set after an unseasonably big snow storm rolled through the village. This session would eventually inspire the inaugural Cattleman’s Rail Jam in 2006 - and the event has since become not only one of Australia’s longest running snowboard events but one of the only events in the world to take place on an actual street feature.

Burton is pleased to announce that the Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam will return for the 10th consecutive year, Saturday July 11th, in Mt Buller Village Square. Australia’s best rail riders will, as they have for the last decade, battle it out on one of the country’s most infamous urban features for a share over $10,000 worth of cash and prizes.

‘Ten Years of Cattleman’s’ is a tribute to the decade-long Cattleman’s story, paying homage to the many stories and standout performances in the event’s rich history. The clip follows Chunk, the event’s MC since day one, as he prepares for his 10th year on the mic and takes a trip down memory lane to re-visit some of the event’s best and most influential moments. Watch it here:

The 10th year of Cattleman’s once again brings a format designed to encourage up-and-coming talent, with qualifiers for the night time final taking place on the Cattleman’s Replica Stair Set throughout the day. The top 10 qualifiers will then compete against the event’s past champions for a share of the $10,000 prize pool, which, for the first time, includes The Mini Stand Out Award – a return trip to Tokyo to compete in the Burton Rail Days event.

For a decade, the Cattleman’s afterparty has been one night on the calendar spoken about for the rest of the season, and many seasons after. The official Cattleman’s Rail Jam Afterparty presented by Corona will for the 10th time light up the Kooroora Hotel from 8pm, featuring tunes from long time Burton friend The Mooch. Burton has also teamed up with Mizu to create a custom CRJ2015 water bottle, providing hydration to each event competitor and a few lucky crowd members pre and post afterparty.

Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam partners include the Frank MBP Terrain Park, Skullcandy, Mini, Transfer Snowboard Magazine, Corona and Mizu.
