Sanctuary Cove welcomes Kuroki Teppanyaki restaurant to the Marine Village

Mulpha, the owner and developer of Sanctuary Cove, is delighted to announce that the acclaimed team behind Japanese restaurants Kamikaze in Coomera will be opening a brand-new teppanyaki dining destination in the Sanctuary Cove Marine Village in September 2025.

Eddie and Kevin, the team behind One Food Republic — operators of Kamikaze Teppanyaki Coomera, Superwok Coomera, and Bam Bam Korean Fried Chicken & Beer — will next month open upscale teppanyaki restaurant Kuroki in Sanctuary Cove, offering a bold new take on Japanese teppanyaki fire-crafted cuisine in an elevated Sanctuary Cove dining precinct.

“Kuroki embodies the spirit of omotenashi, where every gesture is purposeful, every detail considered, and every guest treated as an honoured guest,” Kevin said. “We wanted to create more than a dining experience. At Kuroki, teppanyaki becomes a modern ritual of calm, connection, and craftsmanship.”

Named after the Japanese phrase for “black wood,” the restaurant’s name is a symbol that guides its aesthetic and culinary philosophy: rooted, refined, and quietly powerful.

The menu will showcase a wide range of Japanese culinary experiences, including live teppanyaki, bento boxes, à la carte dishes, and traditional favourites such as sukiyaki — all designed to highlight craftsmanship, authenticity, and modern elegance.

Diners can choose from counter seating at the teppan or intimate tables beneath draped lanterns that echo the black wood motif.

Barry Teeling, Director of QLD Development & Asset Management at Mulpha, said Kuroki is the latest step in Sanctuary Cove’s evolution into a premier food and lifestyle destination.

“We’re delighted to welcome Kuroki to the Marine Village,” Barry Teeling said. “There is a growing appetite for elevated, diverse cuisine on the Gold Coast, and Sanctuary Cove is responding by attracting world-class operators. Kuroki adds something truly special to that mix.”

The opening of Kuroki marks another milestone in Mulpha’s ongoing revitalisation of the Sanctuary Cove precinct, which continues to attract locals, day-trippers, and international visitors alike.

“Kuroki’s teppanyaki concept will deliver a unique experience for both groups and individual diners. It is the kind of offering locals have been asking for.”

With more exciting announcements on the horizon, Mulpha continues to transform Sanctuary Cove into a vibrant food and lifestyle hub where locals and holidaymakers can enjoy world-class dining in an iconic setting.
