Chicago
A Spectacular Return to the Stage in China

The world-famous musical Chicago is back in China, thrilling audiences as it tours twelve cities from north to south across the country. The journey began with a glittering debut at the 2025 Harbin International Musical Festival, where crowds in Heilongjiang, China’s northernmost province, were dazzled by the show’s electrifying choreography and unforgettable score.

Architectural Marvels as Backdrops

Chicago’s China tour is not just a feast for the ears and eyes on stage—it is also set against a backdrop of stunning, futuristic theatres. In Harbin, the production played in a striking modern venue designed to impress. The tour then moved south to the Shanxi Grand Theatre in Taiyuan, followed by the Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre, a masterpiece by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Each stop offers a unique setting that enhances the magic of the performance.

A Timeless Global Phenomenon

Chicago
Since its debut in 1996, Chicago has toured 38 countries, with more than 35,000 performances enjoyed by over 34 million people. The winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy, it first made its debut in China in 2018. The show’s allure continues to captivate audiences worldwide, with its story of fame, fortune, and scandal set against the glamorous yet gritty backdrop of the 1920s.
The Magic Behind the Music

Created by the brilliant trio of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago delivers one iconic number after another. From the sultry “All That Jazz” to the cheeky “Razzle Dazzle” and the unforgettable “Cell Block Tango,” each song and dance number cements the musical’s reputation as one of Broadway’s most enduring and irresistible productions.
