New Flight Route: A Gateway to Luxury Tourism

Da Nang, Vietnam’s vibrant coastal city, has taken a significant step towards boosting its luxury tourism offerings with the launch of a new flight route connecting Dubai to Da Nang via Bangkok. The route, operated by Emirates Airlines, officially opened on June 2, 2025, and promises to enhance the city’s accessibility to the Middle Eastern market—a region known for its high-spending travelers. With four flights per week, the Dubai-Bangkok-Da Nang route opens up exciting opportunities for the city to tap into the luxury tourism sector and cater to the specific needs of Middle Eastern tourists.
Targeting Halal Tourism and Luxury Travelers

Da Nang has long been known for its picturesque beaches, rich culture, and modern amenities. However, the city’s latest initiative is aimed squarely at attracting the Middle Eastern demographic, which includes some of the world’s most affluent and discerning travelers. As part of its strategy, Da Nang is focusing on providing Halal-friendly services to meet the unique needs of Muslim tourists.

Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, highlighted that the Middle Eastern market is among the top spenders in the global tourism industry. “We are implementing a comprehensive plan to cater to Halal tourists, ensuring Da Nang is well-equipped to welcome them,” he said.

The City's Infrastructure: Ready for Luxury Tourists

Da Nang boasts an impressive tourism infrastructure designed to accommodate high-spending travelers. The city is home to 1,290 lodging establishments with over 46,000 rooms, including 111 four- and five-star hotels. Many of these properties are operated by internationally renowned hospitality brands such as IHG, Accor, and Hilton, ensuring top-tier service and luxurious accommodations.

In addition to upscale hotels and resorts, Da Nang also offers 8,000 food and beverage venues, with 30 Halal-friendly restaurants. These include several Halal-certified eateries, as well as over 20 vegan and vegetarian restaurants catering to the tastes of Middle Eastern and regional tourists.

Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptation for Muslim Tourists

To ensure that Da Nang is welcoming and culturally sensitive to Middle Eastern tourists, the city has taken several steps to accommodate Muslim customs. Hospitality staff have undergone specialized training on Muslim practices, including greeting protocols and respecting prayer times. Arabic signage has been added in key areas, and multilingual guides are being developed to help visitors navigate the city with ease.

Furthermore, hotels and restaurants are adapting their offerings to cater to Muslim guests. Many now provide Halal-compliant food, alcohol-free rooms, prayer spaces, and amenities such as prayer rugs and Qurans available upon request. These efforts are in line with Da Nang’s commitment to delivering a premium and culturally respectful experience for its guests.

Da Nang’s Strategic Move to Boost International Profile

The addition of the Dubai-Bangkok-Da Nang route is more than just a flight connection—it is a strategic move to boost Da Nang’s profile on the global tourism map. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, emphasized the significance of the direct flight for the region. “This new route will enhance connectivity between Da Nang and both the Middle East and Europe, particularly for markets that currently lack direct flight options,” he stated.

By targeting high and ultra-high-income tourists, Da Nang hopes to elevate its status as a luxury destination and establish itself as a key player in the global tourism industry. The direct flight route is expected to attract not only affluent travelers from the UAE but also from surrounding countries in the Middle East and Europe, further increasing Da Nang's international appeal.

Looking to the Future

As Da Nang continues to evolve as a luxury tourism destination, the city is poised for growth. The successful launch of the Dubai-Bangkok-Da Nang flight route is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting chapter for the city. With enhanced connectivity, tailored services, and a focus on high-spending tourists, Da Nang is ready to take its place among the premier luxury destinations in Southeast Asia.
