The Moment I Said Yes to Fear
I had admired the Sky Tower from the ground, its sleek spire reaching skyward like a beacon. But it wasn’t until I stood on the narrow 1.2-meter-wide platform—no handrails, just a harness and safety lines between me and the void—that I fully understood the meaning of courage. The SkyWalk is a guided walk around the outside of the tower at 192 meters above ground. It’s exposed, exhilarating, and entirely optional—but I’m glad I said yes.A Unique Networking Experience
What made the experience even more memorable was the company I shared it with. I took part in the SkyWalk alongside a small group of fellow delegates attending MEETINGS 2025 in Auckland. It was an unexpected twist to a business-focused event, offering a thrilling and unconventional way to connect outside the conference halls. Laughing, encouraging each other, and sharing nervous glances as we stepped onto the platform—it was a team-building moment none of us will forget.| SkyWalk |
Pushed Beyond My Comfort Zone
As we moved along the walkway, our energetic guide didn’t just narrate the sights—he turned the experience into a full-on adventure. He offered a series of optional challenges that made the walk even more thrilling. From walking backward with eyes closed to attempting squats on the edge, each task pushed our limits in the best way. These challenges weren’t mandatory, but they added an exciting layer to the already surreal experience. I surprised myself more than once by stepping up to the dare.![]() |
