In Revelstoke, BC, construction is underway on The Lodge at Cabot Revelstoke, a luxury hotel sitting pretty among the Monashee and Selkirk Mountain ranges, known as the “heli-skiing capital of the world.” When it opens in 2024, the resort will feature 150 rooms and suites, an all-season outdoor pool and hot tub, spa, golf course and a short ski to the gondola.
In Terrace, BC, Northern Escapes Heli-Skiing opened a rustic fly-in/fly-out waterfront lodge in late 2020 in the Skeena Mountains, which accommodates up to 10 people. From their remote hideaway, guests can ski pristine trails, tuck into five-star meals prepared by Red Seal chefs and spend evenings stargazing while soaking in the outdoor hot tub.
High in the Canadian Rockies in Kananaskis, Alberta, Fortress Mountain Resort is undergoing the biggest redevelopment program in its 50-year history with new lifts and a new lodge headlining the highly anticipated offerings. In the meantime, skiers can still visit the resort for a day of cat-skiing.
Cape Smokey in Nova Scotia has delighted visitors since the 1970s with skiing from mountains to ocean. Now under new management, the attraction is undergoing a $100 million revamp that will transform it into a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Here, visitors will find Atlantic Canada’s first and only gondola, leading to sledding and tubing, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and heliskiing; the only brewery along the world-famous Cabot Trail, opening in 2022; and North America’s first tree walk, soaring 30 metres (98 feet) above the top of the mountain.
