Sea Cucumber Project in Thailand

The Department of Fisheries has actively supported “sea cucumber” as economic live stock to increase its value in the market, which will benefit those who are concerned about their health.

This animal is popular for medicinal ingredients and its high supplementary amounts of protein and collagen.

The price of sandfish can be as high as 7,000 baht per kilogram.

Therefore, the Department of Fisheries plans to initiate three projects to develop techniques to cultivate the fish, conserve them, and let them return to nature to balance the ecosystem.

In general, sea cucumber can be found around the Andaman Sea, including Phuket and Krabi provinces.
