Newest gee-whiz cruise ship with coolest ‘snow room’

Norwegian Cruise Line has publicized plans for a massive Mandara spa on its next ship which will also include a super-chilled, snowy retreat called the Snow Room. And it’ll be the coolest attraction at sea. Kept at a frosty 21 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s being touted as favorable to blood circulation and the immune system.

According to Norwegian the snow room will be part of the largest thermal suite at sea. The sprawling relaxation zone will also provide 17 heated loungers, a hydro-therapy pool, whirlpools, steam room, dry sauna, sanarium and salt room.

Scheduled to debut in October, the Arctic-themed spa space is just the newest can-you-top-this attraction announced for the 4,200-passenger Norwegian Escape. The spa also will have 24 treatment rooms offering over 50 treatments. In addition, a full service salon will offer a wide-array of hair, nails, waxing and kid-friendly services, along with acupuncture, teeth whitening and cosmetic medical treatments such as Botox injections. There also will be a separate Barber Shop for men. Norwegian’s largest vessel to date also will have the largest water park at sea and the biggest-ever deck-top ropes course.

Norwegian also declared today that the Norwegian Escape would have a large fitness center with Technogym equipment and group classes in yoga, Zumba, TRX and other programs. Boxing buffs will find a high-intensity cardio boxing class called Norwegian Fight Klub. As earlier announced, the 4,200-passenger Norwegian Escape is an expanded version of Norwegian’s recently unveiled Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway. At 164,600 tons, it’ll be one of the five largest cruise ships ever built. Norwegian Escape and sister ship Norwegian Bliss, due in 2017, will be about 10% bigger than the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway.
