Ho Chi Minh City plans to launch fireworks at 30 locations
on April 30 to celebrate the National Reunification Day
Lighting the Skies in Celebration of 50 Years of Reunification

This April 30, Ho Chi Minh City will be illuminated like never before as the southern metropolis celebrates the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification with an extraordinary display of fireworks across 30 locations. The event promises to be one of the city’s largest and most colorful celebrations in recent years, bringing together residents and visitors in a moment of national pride and unity.

High and Low: Fireworks Across the Cityscape

From 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., the city’s skyline will light up with two high-altitude firework displays at key locations: the Sai Gon River Tunnel area in Thu Duc City and the Ben Duoc Memorial Temple in Cu Chi District.

Joining them will be 28 low-altitude fireworks sites spread across Ho Chi Minh City’s districts and surrounding areas. These include landmarks such as Thong Nhat Hall, Ba Son Bridge, Thanh Da Peninsula, and Dam Sen Cultural Park. The aim is clear: to ensure every corner of the city, from central boulevards to suburban neighborhoods, shares in the spectacle.

Special Launch Sites on Water and Urban Hubs

Some of the most scenic views are expected at water-based firework sites along the Rach Chiec area, the Saigon River, Ben Bach Dang Wharf, and Van Phuc Urban Area. These locations promise a spectacular view of the fireworks reflecting off the river’s surface, creating a breathtaking night-time experience for spectators.

Extended Celebrations on the Weekends

To build momentum for the grand celebration, Ho Chi Minh City will also host two high-altitude fireworks events on the preceding Saturday evenings, April 19 and April 26. These displays will take place at Sai Gon Riverside Park in Thu Duc City from 9:30 p.m. to 9:40 p.m., offering an early taste of the city’s festive energy.

Parades, Performances, and a Citywide Salute

The festivities on April 30 begin at 6:30 a.m. with a national-level ceremony and a military-civilian parade along Le Duan Street. The program includes flag-saluting, addresses from national leaders, and a symbolic release of balloons and doves. This will be followed by a 30-minute cultural and musical performance paying tribute to the history and spirit of national reunification.

To ensure everything runs seamlessly, full dress rehearsals for the parade are scheduled for April 18 and 22, with joint drills for the armed forces held earlier in the month in Bien Hoa City.

A Landmark Moment for Locals and Visitors Alike

Whether you're a lifelong resident or a first-time traveler, this April 30 offers a rare opportunity to witness history in motion. The scale and symbolism of the celebrations reflect the importance of this golden milestone in Vietnam’s journey, making it a must-experience event for all.
