As part of the annual Enlighten Festival, Lights! Canberra! Action! returns on Friday, March 7, offering a night of cinematic creativity in the picturesque Senate Rose Garden. This beloved short film festival highlights the talent of local filmmakers, who are given just 10 days to create a film incorporating 10 specific items from around Canberra. The result is an evening of engaging storytelling and imaginative perspectives, all centered around this year’s theme: "Looking Back, Looking Forward."

Set against the charming outdoor backdrop of the Senate Rose Garden, the event invites audiences to bring a picnic blanket or a chair and settle in for an evening of entertainment beneath the stars. Food and beverages from local vendors, including BentSpoke Brewing Co., will be available to complement the relaxed and festive atmosphere.

The event kicks off at 7:00 PM with live music, setting the tone for an inspiring night ahead. At 8:00 PM, the top 12 finalist films will be screened, showcasing the diverse creativity and skill of Canberra’s up-and-coming filmmakers. The night concludes with an awards presentation, recognizing the standout productions of the festival, before wrapping up around 10:30 PM.
