Thailand is set to embark on a year of extraordinary experiences with the launch of the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025.” A landmark initiative aimed at reinforcing the country’s position as a global leader in tourism and sports, this year-long celebration will feature vibrant festivals, world-class sporting events, exclusive travel privileges, and remarkable cultural experiences. The ambitious goal of the campaign is to attract 39 million international visitors and generate 3 trillion Baht in tourism revenue by the end of 2025.

A Vision of Growth and Innovation

Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed her excitement about the year-long initiative, stating: “Tourism is a key driver of Thailand’s economy, and as we embrace the digital era, we must continue to grow by enhancing infrastructure, expanding world-class events, and creating innovative experiences that attract and inspire visitors. Thailand is evolving into a hub for Man-Made Tourism, featuring dynamic festivals, international events, and cutting-edge entertainment, alongside its natural beauty and cultural heritage.”

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has outlined a comprehensive strategy to make Thailand a premier regional tourism and sports hub. Through IGNITE THAILAND’s TOURISM vision, Thailand aims to enhance travel convenience, improve accessibility, and ensure an unforgettable experience for every visitor. Minister of Tourism and Sports Mr. Sorawong Thienthong highlighted the government’s efforts to upgrade infrastructure, including increased airline slots, modernized transportation networks, and the introduction of an online immigration system to streamline travel.

Safety remains a priority, with the government prioritizing crime prevention, accident prevention, and enhanced tourist assistance services.

The 5 Grand Concept: A Year of Unforgettable Experiences

The campaign is anchored around the 5 Grand Concept, featuring:

  1. Grand Festivity – A year-long celebration of festivals and events that will include:

    • Maha Songkran and Saneh Thai Carnival to kick off the festivities in April.
    • Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival in February to mark Valentine’s Day and Pride celebrations.
    • Iconic music festivals such as EDC and Wonderfruit.
    • Major sporting events including MotoGP and the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok.
  2. Grand Moment – A curated collection of exclusive travel experiences that highlight Thailand’s natural wonders:

    • The magical pink sea of mist at Doi Inthanon.
    • Mystical mangroves in Trat.
    • Bioluminescent plankton in Chumphon.
    • Natural wonders such as the Pha Sok Waterfall and the alien rock formations of Kanchanaburi.
  3. Grand Privilege – Exclusive promotions targeting specific market segments:

    • Amazing Romance Month in February for couples and LGBTQ+ travellers.

The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) is driving the sports tourism agenda, positioning the country as a key destination for world-class sporting events. SAT Deputy Governor Mrs. Prodpran Samanmitr emphasized Thailand’s dedication to advancing sports by nurturing national athletes and expanding sports tourism. As part of this commitment, Thailand will host a series of high-profile sporting events:

  • The 33rd SEA Games (9–20 December) in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla, attracting athletes from 11 Southeast Asian nations.
  • The FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 (22 August – 7 September), featuring top international teams.
  • The Muaythai World Festival (5–9 February) in Bangkok, a celebration of Thailand’s national sport.
  • The Honda LPGA Thailand 2025 (20–23 February), bringing the world’s top female golfers to Chon Buri.

Other highlights include the MotoGP PT Grand Prix of Thailand (28 February – 2 March) in Buri Ram, the Amazean Jungle Thailand by UTMB (1–4 May) in Narathiwat and Yala, and the Jet Ski World Series 2025 (17–21 December) in Chon Buri.
