FlyPelican is set to enhance travel convenience for both business and leisure travellers with the launch of a new direct service between Newcastle and the Gold Coast. Starting Monday, 24 March 2025, FlyPelican will operate morning flights four days a week, providing a seamless connection between these two vibrant destinations.

Convenient and Timely Service

FlyPelican’s new service will offer prime-time early morning departures from Newcastle, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Each flight will depart Newcastle at 7:00 AM, reaching the Gold Coast in just 1.5 hours. After a quick 30-minute turnaround, the return flight will head back to Newcastle, ensuring maximum convenience for travellers.

The flights will be operated using the Jetstream 32 aircraft, which accommodates 19 passengers. As part of the service, FlyPelican offers a complimentary checked baggage allowance, making the flights ideal for business travellers looking to make the most of their day.

Meeting the Needs of Business Travellers

FlyPelican’s CEO, Marty Hawley, expressed his excitement about the launch: “We are thrilled to expand our network with this direct service. Our focus has always been on helping local people get where they need to go, and this new route fills a key gap for travellers seeking a morning departure to the Gold Coast."

The early departure times align perfectly with the needs of business professionals who often require quick, efficient travel. The direct route ensures that the journey is hassle-free, and the early start allows passengers to make the most of their day upon arrival.

Expanding Connectivity

The new service is a welcomed addition for Newcastle Airport, offering passengers greater flexibility and connectivity. Interim CEO Andrew Warrender shared his enthusiasm for the route, noting, “This new service is a fantastic addition to our growing network. The early morning departure times are particularly beneficial for business travellers, enhancing our commitment to improving connectivity for the Hunter region.”

Queensland Airports Limited CEO, Amelia Evans, also welcomed the new flights, stating, “Gold Coast Airport looks forward to increasing capacity on the Newcastle route. We already see around 110,000 passengers travel between these two destinations each year, so these new services will provide them with even more choice and convenience.”

Boosting Economic Growth

The launch of this direct service between Newcastle and the Gold Coast is expected to stimulate business opportunities and boost economic growth across both regions. With more travel options available, businesses and individuals can take advantage of streamlined travel for meetings, events, or leisure, strengthening ties between northern NSW and the Gold Coast.

FlyPelican’s new Newcastle-Gold Coast route marks a significant step in enhancing travel options for both regions, offering a reliable and efficient means of travel for those looking to make the most of their time in both destinations.
