The Government has approved the extension of the pilot operation of submarine services in Nha Trang Bay in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa until March 30, 2025.

The move was made the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, pending the issuance of a Decree regulating the management of submarines for tourism purposes in Viet Nam's waters.

The Government tasked the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of National Defense, local authorities and Vinpearl Joint Stock Company, which operates the services, to ensure absolute safety.

In October 2020, the Government agreed to allow the trial of submarine services in Nha Trang Bay.

Following the Government's instruction, the Ministry of Transport then allowed Vinpearl to offer the services on a trial basis from February 2021 to February 2023.

As the services were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government decided to extend to July 2024.

Vinpearl reported that the company had operated more than 700 safe dives, including those for training and tourism purposes, carrying over 2,700 visitors to explore marine life in Nha Trang Bay between April 30 and September 12, 2022. No incidents were reported during this time.

The submersibles used by Vinpearl in Nha Trang Bay are the 24-seat Deep View DV100-24 models, manufactured by Triton Submarine, a U.S.-based company.
