As I made my way to my room on the first floor, I was greeted by a thoughtful touch - a beautifully presented tea and coffee station in the hallway. The convenient location and inviting setup made it easy to grab a refreshing cuppa before settling in or heading out to explore Pyrmont and Sydney. The attention to detail and warm hospitality were evident in this small but lovely gesture, setting the tone for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

As I settled in, I was enveloped in the perfect blend of comfort, elegance, and history. The meticulous design of my boutique pub room masterfully maintained the building's original charm while providing modern amenities for a relaxing stay.

Heritage of Excellence

The Terminus Pyrmont reflects the transformation of Pyrmont. The hotel was originally called the Pyrmont, initially a humble single-storey structure on Harris Street, and became a local social hub. As the area grew, so did the hotel's identity. In 1845 its named changed to The Cooper’s Arms Inn. It then took its current name, The Terminus Hotel Pyrmont in 1898 from the tram service that terminated nearby. The pub was bought by Tooth Brewers who, in 1917, replaced the old building with the present Federation style structure.

Restoration

After closing in 1983, The Terminus Pyrmont slumbered for 33 years, its grandeur and heritage waiting to be rediscovered. In 2016, a meticulous restoration breathed new life into this iconic landmark, reviving its former glory and restoring its heritage values.

The long bar, infamous for the "six o'clock swill", stands as a testament to the pub's storied past. Even the century-old sandstone wall in the back courtyard remains, a poignant nod to the hotel's heritage. This thoughtful restoration ensures The Terminus Pyrmont remains a beloved landmark, its history and character intact, while welcoming a new generation of patrons to experience its grandeur.

I found it very easy to get to The Terminus Pyrmont, thanks to its convenient location near the John Square light rail stop. I stepped off the light rail and, after a short 2 minute walk, arrived at the hotel's door. I'm glad I chose this hotel as access is so simple and convenient.
