The Gladstone region has proudly received its ECO Destination Certification at the Nature Tourism level from Ecotourism Australia, marking a significant milestone in sustainable tourism. This certification, spearheaded by Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL) and supported by the Gladstone Regional Council, recognizes the region's dedication to environmental stewardship, cultural preservation and sustainable business practices.

The certification was funded through the Queensland Government’s Department of Tourism and Sport’s Eco-certified Tourism Destination Program Grant Fund. This grant supports councils and tourism organisations in achieving high-level ECO Destination Certification.

Gladstone is the fourth Queensland destination to become ECO Certified, joining Bundaberg, Townsville, Port Douglas and Daintree, highlighting our industry’s dedication to environmentally responsible management of our stunning natural resources.
