The plan was unveiled by Minister of Environment Eang Sophalleth when chairing a green tourism destination development meeting at the ministry on April 18, 2024.
The initiative will promote sustainable livelihoods among the locals in the protected areas and ensure effective and efficient natural resource management and biodiversity conservation to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.
The green tourism corridor will start with eco-friendly camping complexes, Khmer-style housing for accommodations, cycling paths, and other tourism products.
Eang Sophalleth advised his technical team to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study for strategic planning for creating the green tourism corridor.
Preah Jayavarman-Norodom Phnom Kulen National Park has at least 85 tourist attractions, including stunning waterfalls, ancient temples, and natural ponds.
A total of 1,246 families of 5,036 people (2,446 women) reside in the protected areas of the national park. AKP
