Would you venture to Oita Prefecture to check out this dream onsen spot?

Oita Prefecture
Oita Prefecture is known as one of Japan's leading onsen hot spring locations, thanks to the sheer number and volume of hot springs that adorn the area.

On the "Beppu Jigoku (Hell) Tour” in Beppu City, visitors can visit volcanic areas dotted with 1,000-year-old fumaroles, volcanic mud, and boiling hot springs. Enjoy the wonders of nature at this potent tourist spot.

If you get hungry, try Kannawa Onsen's famous "jigoku-mushi" (hell steaming) – vegetables cooked directly in the volcanic steam.

The ingredients are heated with salty hot spring steam, sealing in freshness and umami (essence of deliciousness). Healthy and tasty!

Also, be sure to visit Usa Jingu Shrine, the head shrine of the more than 40,000 “Hachiman” shrines in Japan.

Surrounded by virgin forests dating back to ancient times, the vast grounds are filled with clean, fresh air and lined with historically and culturally valuable buildings.
