Falling for autumn in Britain

Spooky season has officially arrived and visitors to Britain can experience a raft of spine-tingling tales whilst exploring some of the most historic haunted sites across the nations. Stay overnight in a castle brimming with ghosts and ghouls, embark on a hair-raising dungeon tour of York or walk in the footsteps of Scotland’s turbulent witchcraft past.

Fireworks and bonfires will light up the sky in early November as Britain comes together to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night. In London, enjoy live music, street food, a bonfire and an all-out firework display at Alexandra Palace, or travel back to 1605 at the thrilling new Gunpowder Plot Experience at the Tower of London. Just outside of Glasgow, celebrate a fusion of Halloween and Bonfire Night at Dean Castle Country Park’s Halloween Firework Spooktactular, or warm up in the Peak District with a hog roast and mulled wine at Chatsworth House’s firework extravaganza. Don’t miss next month: The Crown Jewels will be projected onto some of the country’s most famous landmarks and locations in a new immersive visual and musical show, ‘Crown and Coronation’. The show will kick off at the Tower of London next month (17 – 25 Nov), before embarking on a UK-wide tour in 2024.
