Sydney Contemporary Now On

Head to Carriageworks this month for the seventh edition of Sydney Contemporary – Australasia’s largest and most diverse gathering of contemporary art in the region. Explore ambitious and cutting-edge art from emerging and established artists from more than 90 leading galleries.

Sydney Contemporary, Australasia’s premier art fair, in partnership with MA Financial Group, returns to Carriageworks from 7–10 September 2023. Featuring 90+ leading galleries from across the region, visitors can see, buy and experience thousands of works of art by more than 500 contemporary artists.

Alongside gallery presentations, Sydney Contemporary also hosts a vibrant daily program of cutting-edge performance art, large-scale installations, engaging talks, workshops and tours with a range of dining options, artisanal coffee and bespoke cocktails available.

Galleries

Sydney Contemporary's main gallery sector shows solo and group presentations of artists represented by leading galleries. ‘Future' is a dynamic platform for young galleries which have been operating for five years or less, presenting of new work. ‘Paper' is presented in association with The Print Council of Australia. This sector showcases the best watercolours, drawings, artist books, prints and editions.

Programming

The Sydney Contemporary curated program showcases the latest contemporary art trends and practices. With a range of events happening daily, visitors can enjoy topical panel discussions, guided tours, educational workshops, artist talks and art-making activities. Site-specific and interactive installations by Indigenous, Australian and International artists can also be enjoyed, alongside experimental performance art exploring key social, cultural and political ideas.

Art Night

One of the most highly anticipated events on the Australasian cultural calendar, Art Night presents an all-encompassing evening of art, live performances, music and food experiences. Bespoke cocktails will be available on the night.

SC Unlimited

Don't miss a thing! Sydney Contemporary's The SC Unlimited ticket gives you access to all five days of the fair, including the invite-only Collector Preview and Art Night. Strictly limited in number, SC Unlimited tickets also grant access to the luxurious VIP lounge at the fair, an exclusive panel discussion, a guided tour and a complimentary glass of wine.
