Canberra’s National Arboretum
The Australian capital of Canberra is located in the Australian Capital Territory is situated among areas of natural beauty, with national parks, nature reserves and the Australian Alps. 

As such Canberra is a popular destination for hiking, cycling and exploring the outdoors, along with 5,450 hectares of greenery and wildlife in the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve along with truffle farms and over 140 wineries. 

Canberra is a leader in green initiatives and was voted the world’s most sustainable city by Uswitch in 2021. 

It is also the first city in mainland Australia to have achieved an 100% renewable energy supply and can also boast the highest number of electric vehicle charge stations per capita. 

The National Arboretum 

Canberra’s National Arboretum has one of the world’s largest living collections of rare, endangered and significant trees. 

There are some 44,000 precious trees in a monoculture of endangered, rare or symbolic trees from around the world within 250 hectares.

Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary 

Mulligans Flat
Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary is the largest’ box-gum grassy woodland’ in Australia managed for conservation. 

It is an example of a woodland ecosystem flourishing as it would have before European settlement.

Native animals thrive here in the protected 1200 hectares of fox-free bushland, many of which have been unable to exist in their natural habitat for centuries.

These include the Eastern Bettong, a hopping mouse-like mammal, that has been extinct on mainland Australia for 100 years. 

There has also been successful reintroduction programs for animals such as the Eastern Bettong and Eastern Quoll 

Capital Brewing Company 

The Capital Brewing Company is making beer that is ‘good for nature, good for people’. 

The brewery sends its byproducts to a nearby organic farm the production of organic compost. Waste grain is also sent to the same farm to be fed to organic beef cattle. 

Cubby and Co. 

Located just 15 minutes from Canberra's city centre, Cubby and Co offers a place to stargaze by the light of an outdoor firepit while enjoying local wines. 

The two bell tents and one tiny house on wheels are curated with a collective of local designers, producers and furniture makers, for a night away that will take guests back to basics. 

Cubby and Co. is based in the Mount Majura Vineyard. 

Thunderstone, Thunderstone Aboriginal Cultural Services 

The Ngunawal people are the Indigenous Australians whose traditional lands take in the area now occupied by the Australian capital. 

Thunderstone Aboriginal Cultural Services highlights the rich cultural practices and history of the Ngunawal people and the importance of protecting and preserving the culture. 

The Dhawura Aboriginal Cultural Tours give visitors the chance to learn about the landscape, bush foods, artefacts and stone tools and their traditional uses along with canoe trees. www.thunderstone.net.au
