Queensland is Australia's top holiday destination, according to the latest data from Tourism Research Australia.
In the year ended March 2023, Queensland welcomed a record 26 million domestic visitors to the state who spent a record $29.3 billion.
The latest visitation figures show a record number of domestic holiday trips (11.3 million) and also includes record spending in almost all of Queensland’s tourism regions.
Business travel returned strongly reaching a record $4.5 billion in domestic overnight visitor expenditure, up 12.7 per cent on 2019.
International tourism continues to recover with the state welcoming 1.3 million visitors who spent $3.6 billion. The top five source markets by visitation to Queensland were New Zealand, United Kingdom, the USA, India and Japan.
