Cambodia’s Angkor records nearly 300,000 foreign tourists, netting $14 million in four months

Cambodia’s famed Angkor Archaeological Park received 298,998 foreign tourists in the first four months of this year, earning $14 million from ticket sales, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said on Friday.

In April alone, the park attracted 62,557 foreign visitors, making $2.89 million in revenue from ticket sales, it pointed out.

Located in the northwestern Siem Reap province, the 401-square-kilometer Angkor Archaeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in the Southeast Asian. country.

Recently, Angkor Wat has been voted as the world’s best place to see the sunrise, beating rivals with double the number of votes cast.

Angkor Wat topped a poll conducted by morninglife.co.uk, which gathered data from Tripadvisor reviews to find the places with the highest number of sunrise / sunset mentions around the world.

During the pre-pandemic era, in 2019, the Angkor park received up to 2.2 million international visitors, generating $99 million in revenue from ticket sales, according to the Angkor Enterprise.

The entrance fee for a one-day visit to the park is $37, a three-day visit costs $62, and a week-long visit $72.
