A picturesque lake and stunning sunsets will catch your breath and the welcoming community will capture your heart.

Walk in the footsteps of our pioneers, discover unique and interesting works of art or enjoy a morning of foraging at a local market.

Lake Forbes

A destination in itself, Lake Forbes lures locals and visitors alike so be sure to pack the bike, canoe and fishing rods and, of course, that novel you never get a chance to read!

Leave your willpower at home because you simply won't be able to resist treating yourself to something special - a barista-prepared latte and freshly baked pastry, a new spring racing frock or that mouth-watering steak.

Incredible history

Meticulously restored vintage vehicles, lovingly renovated buildings and an historic streetscape combined to offer a glimpse into a bygone era and rural Australia two centuries ago.

Kick-start your stay with a visit to McFeeters Motor Museum.

Over 60 exquisite vehicles, ranging from veteran and vintage through to classic and street rod machines are on display.

The museum attracts motor vehicle enthusiasts from all corners of the state and beyond.

Like fine art, the vehicles are lovingly preserved and showcased.

Be sure to allow plenty of time to meander and browse and enjoy the warm hospitality of the McFeeters’ family.

Forbes history notes our Wiradjuri heritage, the arrival of John Oxley in 1817, the heady heights of the gold rush era and brushes with bushrangers. Forbes proud pioneering heritage has been preserved largely by the restoration of 19th century buildings dotting the towns streetscape. The handsome, elegant buildings help shape the town of Forbes and share stories of the past.

Take a self-guided tour of the stunning heritage buildings in Forbes and discover a rare mix of 19th century colonial architecture.
