Vietnam's International search volume at the world's 4th growing

The monitoring travel trends tool Google Destination Insights recently shows the international demand growth for Vietnam tourism is increasing dramatically from 50%-75%, at the world's 4th growing.

Noticeably, since tourism has been fully opening from 15th March 2022, the demand growth of Vietnam holds its crown as the world’s top growth, showing the robust recovery of the country’s tourism industry.

The top demand by origin country for Vietnam tourism are the US, Singapore, Australia, Japan, India, France, Germany, Thailand, Canada, and the UK.

Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Phu Quoc Island, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Hue and Quy Nhon are the most wanted tourist destinations searched by international visitors.

In which, the number of search volume for airlines to Vietnam from March 2022 increased gradually, the number of search volume at the beginning of April up 663% and in the mid-April, it reached 720% compared to the same period of last year. At the end of April 2022, the search volume for airlines to Vietnam obtained 1,114% and continued increasing in May, the highest period increased by 2000% compared to the same period of 2021 (Figure 1).

Regarding the number of search volume for accommodation in Vietnam, the search volume from the beginning of April 2022 to the middle of May 2022 has also increased. On 1st April 2022, the search volume increased by 103% compared to the same period of 2021, in the middle of May, it reached 450% and has maintained at the high level (Figure 2).

Since the official reopening of the tourism industry, the Government has issued favourable policies to encourage international visitors to come to Vietnam, namely: restoration of visa exemption and entry-exit policy as before the pandemic, without requiring a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19. From 27th April 2022, the COVID-19 medical declaration will be suspended for all international visitors. COVID-19 test requirement is suspended for all travellers entering Vietnam from 15th May 2022. Vietnam tourism promotion is pushing up, especially on digital platforms. On the 31st SEA Games occasion, the tourism industry actively seized the opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam as a safe, friendly and attractive destination for Southeast Asia’s sporting delegations and visitors around the world.
