Awamori and the Sanshin

Sanshin and Awamori are two integral elements of Okinawan culture. Last year, this became one in a new project by Sanshin Cooperative (Sanshin Craftsmen's Business Cooperative Association of Okinawa) along with 39 Awamori producers.

In December 2021, all 39 sanshin were on display at Naha Airport. Each body of the sanshin is decorated with the label design of each distillery, and unlike traditional sanshin whose body is covered with python skin, it can be shipped overseas. 

 Awamori sanshin is popular among both awamori and sanshin lovers, and Sanshin Cooperative is also receiving orders from Okinawan restaurants where it will be played and displayed.
