The Melbourne Writers Festival is set to return in 2019 a jam-packed program of events from August 30-September 8. For more than three decades, the two-week festival has brought together the best writers, thinkers and performers from Australia and around the world to revel in the power of words to unite and inspire.
After a day of vibrant storytelling, conversation and discussion, visitors can find their next perfect read at the unique bookshops.
Readings
The award-winning independent bookstore Readings has been a Carlton fixture since being established in 1968. Closing at 11pm most nights make it perfect for night owls or an post dinner browse. Buck Mulligans
For those that prefer a drink in hand when browsing through bookshelves look no further than Buck Mulligans. Located in Northcote, a 20 minute drive from the city, this quaint establishment pays homage to its Irish roots as a bookstore in Galway. Despite their specialty being whiskey, Buck Mulligans also offers customers cocktails, beer, wine as well as Irish inspired foods.
