First Brisbane Event for Women in Tourism

Women in Tourism is set to host its first lunch event in Brisbane Thursday 8 August at the hot new The Calile hotel.

A call out on the Women in Tourism (Australia) Facebook group garnering interesting for a Brisbane event generated an overwhelming positive response from the 1,500 members and the event was arranged.

Sticking with the format at all Women in Tourism lunches to have a discussion theme, three panelists have been invited to talk about Adapting to Change: insights on adjusting and thriving through changes in family, career and life.

The panelists who each bring their own experience to the topic are:

  • Kate Duffy: Marketing Program Director at Tourism and Events Queensland
  • Hannah Statham: Chief of strategy, ideation and content at Media Mortar. Hannah was also the recipient of the Queensland Tourism Young Achiever Award in 2018.
  • Leonie Vandeven: Head of Media and Corporate Communications at Brisbane Airport Corporation

Women in Tourism Leadership events aim to bring together professionals in the tourism industry to network, learn and discuss issues of women in the workplace. Previous lunches held in Sydney and Melbourne have included the themes of International Women's Day, Career Planning, Mentors and Mastermind Groups, Pivotal Leadership Moments and Confidence Bootcamp.

“After many fantastic Women in Tourism events in Sydney and Melbourne we're very excited to bring the event to Brisbane. As much as the online Women in Tourism (Australia) group is valuable, there is nothing quite like meeting and connecting in person” says Co-founder of Women in Tourism Leadership Events Holly Galbraith.

The Brisbane August event invites guests to enjoy a two-course lunch with a welcome glass of wine, along with networking, learning and robust discussion on the topic of Adapting to Change.

All Women in Tourism events are fully inclusive and accessible. Everyone is welcome.
